Universitas Indonesia (UI) Cloud Computing Bootcamp to equip students with essential cloud computing skills for future-ready workforce
Hundreds of students expected to participate in cloud computing skills program powered by AWS Educate
Jakarta, Indonesia — 2 May 2019— The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti) under the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs is conducting a large-scale technology skills event as part of the activities for commemorating the National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2019, hosted by Universitas Indonesia (UI), called “Cloud Computing Bootcamp Powered by AWS Educate” to train the next generation of IT graduates and educators on essential cloud computing skills. To be held at the auditorium of Faculty of Computer Science, UI in Jakarta from 2nd – 4th May 2019, the bootcamp will utilize content provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) through AWS Educate, a global initiative that provides a robust set of learning content, resources, and AWS Promotional Credits for students and educators to acquire the latest cloud computing skills.
“It’s clear to see that current technological advancements are bringing the world closer together irrespective of border through cloud, big data and the era of internet of things (IoT). The rapid development of innovative and disruptive technology has led to the creation of new jobs that have never existed before. This Cloud Computing Bootcamp, powered by AWS Educate, serves as the beginning of many more education initiatives to come. We are striving to build a generation in Indonesia that is tech-savvy, capable of becoming technopreneurs and startup entrepreneurs, and is ready to take Indonesian innovation global,” said Prof. Ismunandar, Director General of Learning and Student Affairs.
Students and graduates from UI, as well as neighboring universities, will benefit from the two-day intensive training, which features close to 30 hours of learning that incorporates instructor-led training and hands-on practice using AWS Cloud, the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. The event will culminate with AWS GameDay, a cloud-skills competition for participants to put their new learnings to work as they solve a set of challenges related to real life scenarios.
“The Industrial Revolution 4.0 increases the need to master cloud computing technology, as businesses today progressively use it to advance their services,” said Dr. Mirna Adriani – Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, UI. “The Faculty of Computer Science in UI supports the advancement of students’ knowledge and skills in this field by hosting Cloud Computing Bootcamp, powered by AWS Educate. In this Cloud Computing Bootcamp, students will be provided useful information about the latest AWS cloud technology. We hope that the bootcamp will help students to increase their skills so that they can become future-ready.”
