SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Muhammad Rahmat Widyanto received the B.Sc. degree (with cum laude honors) in Computer Science from the University of Indonesia, Depok Campus, Depok, Indonesia in 1998, the M.Eng. degree (with gold medal distinction) and the Dr.Eng. degree (with first class honors) in Computational Intelligence from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Suzukakedai Campus, Yokohama, Japan in 2003 and 2006, respectively.

Dr. Widyanto is currently a Lecturer in the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia. He is the Head of Graduate Program on Computer Science, University of Indonesia. His research interests include multimedia understanding & analysis, fuzzy theory, soft computing, and machine learning.

Dr. Widyanto is a member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Intelligent Informatics (SOFT), and International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA). He was the Organizing Committee Chair of the National Conference on Computer Science & Information Technology (NACSIT) 2007. Currently, he is General Secretary Indonesian Society for Soft Computing (SC-INA). He has received a number of awards including the International Conference on Soft Computing & Intelligent Systems 2002 (SCIS`02) Excellent Presentation Award and the International Symposium on Advanced Intelligent Systems 2005 (ISIS`05) Outstanding Paper Award. He has been a reviewer for many international journals, e.g., IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, IEEE Trans. on Industrial Electronics, Elsevier Applied Soft Computing, Elsevier Fuzzy Sets & Systems, etc.
